My Process for this collection started out with my old job at a disposal company. At this job I would sit for 8 hours each day, repeating the same motion over and over, slowly cleaning dumpster after dumpster. Although it was not my ideal job, I really enjoyed how the repetitive nature of that one simple task gave me a chance to sit and reflect on all the different aspects of my life. Later down the line, I noticed that when working on garments that required me to perform the same task over and over again, I was given the opportunity for self-reflection. Performing the same task over and over again when constructing a garment became for me a form of creative meditation. From there, I decided to create a collection based on meditation through the repetition of one small action or element, over and over again, to create each garment. In fashion today, we place such an emphasis on moving forward faster and faster that I wanted to see just how much I could slow the process down and how much time could be put into each individual garment.
